A)-Background:
Semet co (formerly Heavy Industries Research Center) was established in 13 hectares in1976 in Tabriz, East Azerbaijan province, with the collaboration of Indian CMTI
Company targeting researching, consulting, designing and production of various demands of the factories affiliated to the Ministry of Heavy Industries. In 2000, Industries Development and Renovation Organization ( IDRO), turned over 66% of his 100% shares in Semet co to Saipa Car Manufacturing Group and kept the rest for himself.

B)-Field of activities:
Semet co, benefitting his vast and potential abilities and enjoying 200 skillful staff, and carrying the ISO/TS16949-2002, ISO9001-2000 standards, is manufacturing and rendering following products and services:
-Brake Parts e.g. front brake caliper for Kia Pride cars, Brake Cylinders for front and rear axle of Nissan.
-Design and manufacturing of production equipments and tools, different types of simple and complex Control Gauges and cutting tools such as Broaching Blades and various Multi Spindles.
-Design and manufacturing of Test machines and equipments being used in production and control lines of different industries and especially automotive section.
-presenting Metrology laboratory services approved and accredited by Standard and Industrial Researches Institute of Iran.
-Different Heat Treatment services.
-Very precision Boring services such as thread and Jig grinding.
-Production of Master Pumps for Renault 5 passenger cars, Brake Cylinder for Khavar commercial cars, and Steering Box for Nissan vans in past years.
Currently, Semet co being supported by high executive, engineering and technical potentials and owing very widespread network of supply chain in all provinces of Iran, is the main OE supplier of Saipa Car manufacturing Group (covering 80% of their demand) by supplying them 1,000,000 Kia Pride front brake caliper assembly and 400,000 sets of front and rear Nissan brake cylinders and since more than 50% market share of Iranian auto industry belongs to Saipa, subsequently, Semet co is the biggest producer of the brake calipers among other private and semi private producers in Iran.
From other hand and according to the latest decisions of the shareholders, Semet co for meeting the demands of Saipa, should expand and shift his productive plans from the production of the calipers to the whole Braking System. In this concern, negotiations  with Sazeh Gostar and Mega Motor authorities have been started and carries on and as an example, we can point out to the project of supplying 150,000 ABS braking systems of Kia Pride cars by us.
